The best storyline in sports and entertainment right now is the love affair that Jason Mendoza, a character on the TV show The Good Place, has with the Jacksonville Jaguars and their quarterback, Blake Bortles.

Jason, played Torrey Smith Authentic Jersey by actor Manny Jacinto, is the dumbest, most endearing, and maybe only Jaguars fan in the history of television. Part of the running joke in the first two seasons is that the team is terrible. At one point Jason 锟斤拷 who is dead because the show takes place in the afterlife 锟斤拷 asks another character, Michael, if Jacksonville has won the Super Bowl since his death. Michael just laughs.
You suspect the Dolphins might want to chalk up 2017 as a lost season after Ryan Tannehill went down with a torn ACL in preseason, but their 28th-ranked defense (by DVOA) is a bigger concern. Miami likely will hit the free-agent market yet again to try to plug holes, even if it means moving on from Jarvis Landry and cutting Ndamukong Suh, who might have worn out his welcome. Questionable contracts from years past might prevent Miami from importing as much new talent as it might like.
In other injury news, cornerback Mackensie Alexander did not practice Friday because of an illness and is listed as questionable. The Vikings also ruled out defensive tackle Shamar Stephen (knee). Stephen is likely the only player on the roster who won’t be available for Sunday’s game.
Meanwhile, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer would not say whether Sam Bradford or Teddy Bridgewater would back up quarterback Case Keenum. Bradford took that role from Bridgewater for last week’s divisional playoff round and is expected to do the same Sunday. Earlier this week, Zimmer left open the possibility that all three quarterbacks will be active.
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is all but certain to play in Week 2 against the Broncos. The NFL has admitted as much and, as it is already Thursday afternoon when this is being written, it would be surprising if a judge ruled on Elliott’s case in time to make a decision for Week 2. Elliott was suspended for six games on August 12 for a violation of the league’s domestic violence policy.
